The Letter to Thyatira - Revelation 2:18-29 Christ calls the churches attention… 1. OUTWARD 2. INWARD 3. ONWARD ----------------------- 1. OUTWARD - Christ commends the outward expression of their faith. (v18-19) ASK YOURSELF… - What are your works? What would Christ say about the OUTWARD expression of your faith in Him? Would He commend you for your love, faithfulness, service and endurance? - Are you a giver (like Jesus) or are you a taker? Do you expect only to receive from others, or do you live your life and relationships with a posture of serving and spending yourself? - What would those around you say about your works? What is your reputation as a follower of Jesus? 2. INWARD Christ rebukes the inner tolerance of sin. (v20-23) ASK YOURSELF… - In what areas of your life are you tolerating sin? What would Christ say about the INWARD purity of your soul? - What other masters are you serving alongside your profession of Jesus as Lord? - How are you pursuing and growing in holiness today? - Do you trust the pastors and leaders Christ has given your church to cleanse us through rebuke and church discipline? 3. ONWARD Christ encourages them to faithfulness with the promise of present strength and future glory. (v24-28) - Extraordinary glory comes through ordinary faithfulness. ASK YOURSELF - What is your source of strength and motivation for a glorious future? What motivates you to continue ONWARD into eternity? - What does ordinary faithfulness look like in your life today? - What do you consider to be a glorious and meaningful life? - How can your daily decisions and routine be lived in light of eternity?
